McLeansboro Times-Leader  April 26, 1934

Nicholas Linden, son of Mike and Susan Linden, was born in Luxemberg,Germany, July 26, 1835, departed this life at Broughton, Illinois, in the home of his daughter, Mrs. T. James Allen, on April 13, 1934, aged 98 years, 9 months and 18 days.

Mr. Linden was united in marriage to Nancy E. Williams on August 12, 1866. To this union three daughters were born:  Mrs. Anna Allen and Mrs. Rosa Porter of Broughton, Illinois, and Minnie Gibs of Los Angles, California.  Four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren are left to mourn with a host of relatives and friends.

Uncle Nick's illness was of lengthly duration, but throughout this he was never heard to complain.  He bore his afflictions with much patience.  He was always kind and appreciated what was being done for him, and his loved ones never tired of supplying his every need. 

Judging from what we have heard him say, there is no doubt in our minds but what his soul is at rest with God.  About three days before he passed away, he sang out strong, "I will soon be at home over there."
