Broughton Homecoming October 1976

A croud of approximately 400 attended the Broughton Homecoming held at the old Broughton School

After being served dinner, the crowd was entertained by the Hamilton County Little Theater Group, Linda (Porter) Flota, the Varner Family, the Hardesty's and Michelle Sloan.

Prizes were awarded to Mrs. George King, Goleta, California, for coming the longest distance to the homecoming; Mr. John Ellis, who will be 97 years old this Tuesday, for being the oldest man present; Mrs. Kate Wilson, who will be 93 years old at the end of this month, for being the oldest woman present; and Jonathan Russell Shaw, for being the youngest person present. The door prize was won by Connie Moore, Iuka. A gift of appreciation was presented to Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Irvin for the use of the facilities for the event.

Those exhibiting crafts were Charlotte Jones, Ola Barlow, Emma Pennington, Ruby Ruphard, Grace Irvin, Mary Porter, Becky Davolt, and Jean Delap.

The Broughton Homecoming Committee for 1977 was announced. Members of the committee are Mr. & Mrs Donald Phillips, Mr. & Mrs John T. Gholson, Mr. & Mrs. James E. Sisk, and Mr. & Mrs. Joe Dale Ruphard.

The 1976 committee members, Mr. & Mrs. Bill Delap, Mr. & Mrs. Eugene Pemberton, Mr. & Mrs. Bill Craddock, Mr & Mrs. James Davis, and Mr. Claude Lasater, would like to thank everyone who contributed to the Broughton Homecoming fund.
