Tragic Death of little Carl Porter

One of the saddest accidents we have witnessed for many years happened here Saturday in the burning to death of little Carl, the eight month old child of Mr. & Mrs Sherman Porter. Its mother had left it sleeping and gone to a nearby neighbors house for a short call. Another child, three years old, entered the room in the absence of the mother and set fire to the bed in which the babe was sleeping. Neighbors discovered the fire and after some difficulty, reached the child, which was upstairs, but not until it was so frightfully burned that it died within a few hours. Funeral services were held sunday at the Baptist church by Rev. Samuel L. Roper after which the remains were taken to Big Hill Cemetery for Internment. The bereaven parents have the heart felt sympathy of all their friends.
