MRS. PRYER, RETIRED
NURSE, DIES AT 71
Mrs. Margaret Conner Pryer, 71, of 205 E. Second St., a retired
registered nurse and widow of Robert M. Pryer, died in her home
early
Saturday.
She was born at Crates June 27, 1904, a daughter of Samuel B.
and
Mary J. Reinsel Conner.
She graduated from the DuBois school of Nursing and was a
private
and general duty nurse at Franklin and Oil City hospitals until
her
retirement, for health reasons, in 1970.
Her husband, Robert M. Pryer, died in May of 1959.
Mrs. Pryer was a member of St. Stephen Church.
Surviving are a son, David Pryer of Polk Rd 1; two daughters,
Mrs. Richard (Nancy) Koziara of Northville, Mich., and Mrs.
Adam
(Andrea) Barscz of Oil City; three sisters, Sister M. Jeanette
of
Erie, Mrs. Gertrude McCafferty of Corry, and Mrs. Bertha
Rickert of
Germany, and ten grandchildren.
Two brothers, Levi T. and Bernard Conner, and four sisters,
Mrs.
Clara Dowing, Mrs. Marion L. Howard, Mrs. Anna M. George and
Mrs. Rose
Aaron, are deceased.
Friends may call any time at the Charles A. Morrison Funeral
Home, where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7
to 9 pm
today.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 am Tuesday in St.
Stephen
Church. Interment will be in St. Patrick Cemetery in Franklin.
A vigil service will be held at 8:230 pm today in the funeral
home.

MRS.
NORMAN PRYOR.
The following obituary notice is published at the request of
relatives of the deceased, as numerous important facts were
omitted
from the notice published at the time of her death, owing to
our
inability to secure same.
Mrs. Jessie Halderman Pryor, wife of Norman Pryor, died at her
home near Floyd, Rockland township, Feb. 21, 1909, in her 27th
year.
Mrs. Pryor was born in Petrolia, Sept. 27, 1882, and resided
there
until the death of her mother when she was 9 years of age,
afterwards
making her home with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Jacob
Halderman,
of Rockland.
She was married to Norman Pryor nine years ago, and five
children were
born to them, all of whom survive with the husband and father
to mourn
the loss of a devoted wife and mother. The oldest of the
children
being 8 years of age, the youngest aged one week at the time of
the
mother's death. She is also survived by her father and
stepmother,
Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Halderman, one sister, Ruth, of Rockland, and
one
brother, Charles, of Scio, O., and her grandparents, Mr. and
Mrs.
Jacob Halderman.
Funeral services were conducted at the home on Tuesday,
following
her death, conducted by Rev. Hewitt, of the Rockland M. E.
church.
Interment was made in the Rockland cemetery, the body being
laid to
rest beside that of her mother.

AGNES I.
HIGHFIELD
Agnes I. Highfield, 91, a resident of the Quincy United
Methodist
Home in Quincy, formerly of Rockland, died at 2:35 a.m. Monday,
Nov.
6, 1995, in the nursing home.
Born May 5, 1904, in Rockland, she was a daughter of Norman and
Jessie Halderman Pryer.
Mrs. Highfield was a graduate of Rockland High School.
In her earlier years, she worked for The News-Herald in
Franklin.
She also worked for the election board in Franklin.
Mrs. Highfield was a member of the Christian and Missionary
Alliance Church in Franklin where she had served as treasurer
of the
Women's Missionary Fellowship.
A former resident of Shady Grove, she attended the Antrim
Brethren in Christ Church near Chambersburg.
Her husband, Russell L. Highfield, died April 21, 1981.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. William (Nancy H.) Oakes of
Greencastle; two sisters, Helen Jolly of New Jersey and Freda
Bell of
Coconut Creek, Fla; five grandchildren; and 14
great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Highfield was
preceded in death by a daughter, Phyllis Downing, and a
brother,
Arthur Pryer.
The Harold M. Zimmerman & Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St.,
Greencastle, is in charge of arrangements.
