She was the oldest of the family, never was in her right mind. She used to sit and lay about in their large firecorner. When strangers or neighbours would visit she would sit in the firecorner and stir about in the ashes with a stick. On this account the neighbours called her the 'Ash Puddler'. She died in the firecorner in Sept. 1822, age about 57 years and was buried in Salford Mennonite Cem.
