Buffalo's Old East Side Neighborhood

Welcome to the home page of the Old East Side neighborhood of Buffalo, NY. This set of pages was created in partnership with a group of genealogists and family historians (of whatever rank or none) interested in researching the part of Buffalo referred to as the Old East Side. This was a mostly German neighborhood in the mid 1800s through the early 1900s. The old East Side is loosely defined by the area east of Main Street built before 1900. See these maps of Buffalo neighborhoods. Anything genealogy related to this neighborhood or nearby is of interest. Email addresses of participants have been modified to minimize spam.

If you're interested in joining an email discussion list about the old East Side, please visit lists.rootsweb.com/index/usa/NY/erie.html and scroll down to the information about NY-ERIE-BUFFALO-EASTSIDE. You'll find subscribe instructions there, plus an archive of messages to date.

As of the date below, this set of pages is no longer being updated (but the mailing list above is still active). That said, there is still a very valuable collection of information contained within these pages.
