ONTARIO RESEARCH - Great Great Great Grandfather - JOHN ANDERSON (1774-1840):

My ANDERSON research thus far has identified details of ANDERSON descendents emigrating from Pennsylvania, to Canada West (Southern Ontario) c1800. At present, my oldest Canadian ancestor identified is a John ANDERSON, with Irish Origin.

John was born in Pennsylvania, born Oct. 19, 1774, died Oct. 29,1840 in West Flamborough Wentworth Co. Ontario. John had a wife Susannah. They had their 1st  son Henry, born April 24, 1800 in Pennsylvania, just before John immigrated to Ontario. John and Susannah lived on Lot 24, Con. 2 West Flamborough Twp., Wentworth Co., Ontario.

PARENTS OF JOHN ANDERSON:
I have identified John’s parents as William Sr. Anderson & Rebecca unknown. According to a Petition for land in Ontario in 1819, John was born in Pennsylvania.

LAND PETITION - OATH OF ALLEGIANCE:
"I certify, that John Anderson born in Pennsylvania States now of West Flamborough – 19 years in the Province Yeoman, hath taken and subscribed the Oath of Allegiance as required by Law, before me, at York, in the Home District, this ninth day of March in the Year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and nineteen."

JOHN ANDERSON'S BIRTH DATE:
Using  John Anderson cem. transcript, in West Flamborough Presbyterian Cemetery - Christie Corners:, #110 In memory of John Anderson who departed this life Oct. 2, 1840 aged 65 yrs 11 m 13 d. (means b. Oct. 19, 1774) John had his 1st son in 1800.

IMMIGRATION TO ONTARIO FROM PENNSYLVANIA - In 1800:
John entered Canada from Pennsylvania with his wife Susannah and new born son Henry (b. Apr. 24, 1800).
Since Henry is born in PA in April, then John would have immigrated to Ontario from PA, sometime after April 24, 1800.

SETTLED IN WENTWORTH COUNTY, ONTARIO:
John bought Lot 13 Con. 5 East Flamborough Twp. but settled on Lot 24 Con. 2 West Flamborough Twp., Wentworth County, Ontario. John died Oct. 29, 1840.

SERVICE IN WAR OF 1812:
According to John's Land Petition, he fought with the British in the war of 1812. "That your petitioner has behaved himself as a soldier and a faithful subject to his Majesty during the late war with the U. States and he has never obtained any lands or grant of Lands whatsoever under the Crown"

Apply Naming Convention To John & Susannah Anderson:
1st son - Named for mothers father   - Henry (unknown)
2nd son - Named for fathers father   - William T. Anderson
3rd son - Named after father   - John T. Anderson

NOTE: That William T. would be named after William Sr. & John T. would be named after his father John.
The fact that the two names match, indicates that my John was following the naming convention.

CONCLUSIONS:
1) I have concluded that I have enough data to state that my John Anderson is the son of William Sr. Anderson.
2) I have also concluded that John is buried in the West Flamborough Presbyterian Cemetery - Christie Corners:  #110 In memory of John Anderson who departed this life Oct. 2, 1840 aged 65 yrs 11 m 13 d.

3) John's father would appear to be named William according to his son's name, William T. Anderson
4) John T. Anderson is named after his father John.
5) The females don't appear to follow the sequence, unless Susannah also had another name Elizabeth.
