My name is Jennifer Land, and I am both a genealogist and a PhD candidate. I am bringing those two together in a dissertation called "From Gravestones to Google: Research, Collaboration, and Community in the Evolving Field of Genealogy."

I've surveyed my fellow genealogists to find out how access to resources on the Internet impacts the way we conduct family history research.top 50 words in my proposal

I created a web survey that was available until the end of May 2011. When I have analyzed my data I will share results here; I hope to post that report soon.

The tornado that hit Tuscaloosa on April 27, 2011, disrupted everything in my life, including my research. But we are rebuilding -- and I am continuing my research. I have been granted an extra semester, so instead of completing the dissertation for graduation in December 2011, I am on track to complete my PhD in the spring semester of 2012.

Thank you for your interest! I hope to have information to share with you soon.

Jennifer
