I, Elizabeth Warnock Womack, want to relate an interesting fact that I remember well. Some of the Warnocks at Keyhoe decided to build a Christain church. The Methodists had a church on the hill by Mr. Rance Copper's old home and quite they had in building the church called Corinth. All cousins, Bob, George, and several others talked to old Uncle Charley, father of Mark, Alf, and Adah (who married a Bruce).
When the cousins approached Uncle Charley to get aid in building a new church and to become a member of the Christian Church, he gave the matter serious consideration, pondering a long time what his course of action should be. The Warnocks did not make hasty decissions. While pondering one afternoon, he fell asleep and this is what I was told.
He say an angel come into his room. He spoke to the angel and asked guidance about the decision he was to make about his baptism and church affiliation. The angel answered him saying, "Go to Mr. John Cooper that lives on a hill. You will find him plowing on a certain hill in a feild. Tell him you want him to baptise you. He will say he has not been ordained and has no authority to do so. But, you tell him I say your sins will be on his head if he does not comply with your request.
The next day Mr. Cooper was found in the feild exactly where the vision or angel said he would be and the answer was just as he had been told, So, Charlie was fully convinced. The angel further told him to kneel in the waterand have the water poured from a new vessel on his head. He did as the angel told him and lived faithful to his conviction for the rest of his life. I saw him baptised and it was a beautiful ceremony in Buffaloe Creek where the waters are clear as Rock Crystal. Mr. John Cooper was one of the best men in the community. He did preach, hold services and was a good holy man. His church was the Southern Methodist and is still standing on the hill at Coppers in Keyhoe, but the church of Corinth has long since been destroyed, perhaps by a flood of Tygart Creek.
