Excerpt from the Journal "Notes By The Way - Journals of Ethie Annabelle Waldron 1915-1917" by NHW
With Permission
"November 21 Sunday very cold windy day. We went to church with the surrey. Leo took the meeting. We went to Bro. Mayo’s for dinner. We went to O’Connor. It was very cold and not many were out. We went to Mr. Bull’s in the evening for the meeting and quite a few were out. Just ten years today since Pa died. Old Mr. Everett was found dead in his bed this morning by Mr. Winslow.
November 23 Tuesday It was a nice day. I washed and cleaned the floors. Mr. Everett’s casket came. Mr. Taylor came for Leo to take the service. Ten years ago Pa was laid away.
November 24 Wednesday nice mild day. The children went to school until recess. We went to the funeral. There were about 30 there. The pall bearers were Jim and Bert Winslow, Mr. Hayes, Hardy Whittaker, Mr. Tiedeman, and Mr. Moss. We stopped at Howard’s for tea and went to prayer meeting. Oscar was helping Howard side the house. After they finished the grave digging, I packed Nina’s medicine cabinet Mr. Howard sent her. I received a letter from Mother. A letter came for Howards from Nellie.
