January 13, 1941   snow is soon over and very dark weather   Steamer Monagh partly burned at Marine Ways Saturday 11th

Tuesday March 16, 1943   I see in the old time news of the Elizabeth Herald of 60 yrs ago the Death of a neighbor of my Boy days Thomas Garret age 68   was blind in his old age  he was an old hand in Boat building   Days working in the Draughting loft mostly takeing up and finishingTemplets for the building of many famous steam Boats

Sunday August 19, 1945   dense fog on late   Clear and warm  Tem 84  no wind  the evening overcast   The sun going down a very deep red   can look directly at it.  McKown and Wife took Helen and I a ride to the old John Brown Farm 4 miles out from Fayette City. I when a boy was sent up there to work. I went on the Packet Geneva to Fayette City.
