When I started this web site, approximately 2000, I visited the Elizabeth Marine Ways and was given access to several large cardboard boxes full of photographs, many of which are on this web site.  One of the photos in the boxes was of a model of the Marine Ways but no one knew the story behind the photo, the Who, Why, or Where so I thought I would never know about this model.  Fast forward to 2009 and I receive an email along with two photos and more importantly the Who, Why and Where of the model of the Elizabeth Marine Ways.

Tom Wilson, a former resident of Elizabeth who lived on Blaine Hill until 1984 and now lives in Davenport, Fl.  had built the model in 1994 to be part of his model railroad display.  Tom's father had owned Tom Wilson Plumbing in Elizabeth and worked for many years on the plumbing systems of Consol Coal's boats especially as related to the heating systems.  In addition to Tom's father his grandfather, uncle and two great uncles all worked on the rivers and Tom built the model " to remember and honor my family who worked and died on the river."

To view Tom's Web Site about his model train layout click here:  http://pwvrr.webs.com/   The model of the Elizabeth Marine Ways is not shown on his site and contact information for Tom is not on the site.

This is the photo I found in 2000 at EMW
