November 20, 1937  Temp 30o  Cloudy 5 AM  windy very cold and Snowing after 12 Oclock  very much of a winter day high Temp 32o   The Steamer Beacon burned yesterday near Warwood, W. Va. I helped build her 1914-15  she had been sold and the machinery removed

January 23, 1938   I looked over a new Boat today   Pittsburgh Coal Company   all steel welded  name Mongah

March 4, 1938   I went to Crucible this afternoon with William Pancost Jr and Mr Braun from Carnegie Ways   we looked over new Boat REZISTAL built by Ward Wiegel Supt. for Crucible Fuel Company     the Machinery on this new Boat is that of the Charlie Clarke and Atha
