Franklin Roth born in Baltimore MD on the 10th of Oct. 1857. Came to Dayton when he was 4 years old in 1865. Lived on Burns Ave. until his mother died. Then father had him a year or so, then Grandpa and Grandmother Gearhart - William Gearhart - Elizabeth or Bessie ? Roades Gearhart took him. It is known that he [F. V. Roads] was raised by William and Barbara Rhodes Gearhart. Therefore, it would seem probable that he and John Gearhart, the son of William and Barbara, who was 5 years younger than Franklin, were raised as brothers. Franklin's daughter, Emma Victoria Roads, married John's son, William Allen Gearhart.11
