| PRIDE OF PLACE - A STORY OF SETTLEMENT OF PRINCE EDWARD CO by Brenda Hudson: Northport, village in Sophiasburg, once a very important and busy port of call. In Northport, James Morden built the first house in the area in 1791. His son Richard kept the first store and soon it flourished to become a village with a blacksmith shop, wagon shop, hotels and a post office. James Morden, U.E.L., (1772-1840) of Sophiasburg married Margaret Parliament 27 Dec 1792. They had ten children. | ||||||||
