Information
about the Jim Fain Collections:
Dr Jim Fain, retired superintendent of the Lead Hill
Schools, has graciously allowed his collections of obituaries and news articles
to be photographed. This collection
ranges from the late 1970s to 2003. It
consists of those he knew and those who lived or tied back to the Lead Hill
area. Most obituaries are from the
Harrison Daily Times. However, some
are from Madison County Courier and from the DeQueen Newspaper.
Each obituary was photographed by Reta DeShields Parton
after receiving the collection on July 4, 2003.
The only editing to the obituary is to adjust size and angle of the
photo. You can reduce the size when
imputing it into your word processing program or when printing.
It is left in the largest size available.
The filing is as follows:
Male
– Last Name – First Name – Middle Name or Initial –
FeMale – Last Name – First Name – Middle Name or
Initial – Maiden Name
(Maiden Name and Nick Names are given when available)
You will notice on some he has written the date or HDT,
which is Harrison Daily Times. The
date is the date it was in the newspaper.
What you will find here is only the indexes of the
obituaries and the news articles.
We are offering to send you an email
with the items you want attached. This
is a free service to those interested in the people in the Lead Hill area.
All obituaries are in jpg format as most computers regardless of their
age can open this file. If you would
like to receive a particular obit, please send Reta the list of Obituaries
(limit of 5 per email) and your email address and they will be emailed to you.
Our much thanks to Dr Jim Fain who has shared this with us.
