In a deposition for a pension application, Jacob Holland stated that he was born in the State of Maryland and that He lived in Abbeville County, SC near the Cherokee Ford on the Savannah River when he entered military service under Captain Pickens and Col. Pickens. He volunteered in the year 1776 (the month not known). His military tours are detailed in his pension application. The application states that he moved to Madison County, Alabama in 1812 and later to Pickens County, Alabama where he resided until his death.1 He refers to Charles Holland as a reference in the pension application. It is generally assumed that Charles is his brother but the name of the parents have not been determined. He married Sarah Miller. He was born circa 1761. Jacob was listed as the head of a family on the 1850 Census at Pickens County, Alabama. Jacob died on 1 October 1852 at Pickens County, Alabama. He was buried in at Hebron Churchyard at Greene, Alabama. |
