   I know this man doesn't pertain to you all so if you don't need it /want it just delete it.
   William Washington Shreves was the only husband that Catherine Elizabeth SUTER had .... she is the mother to Margaret Jane Suter Hayes & Henry Albert Suter.....
   "Kate" is my husband's 3rd great grandmother!

   I am not going to type out the entire pension packet (it gives the following information).
   Wm Washington Shreves had to prove:
   #1. That he was not a deserter
   #2. he was who he said he was
   #3. that he was really injured, how injury occurred and that he needed subsistence.
   
   There are affidavits for disability from 12/13/1877 until 7/4/1898
   from friends, family & other soldiers that knew him at the time of the war.
   The Dept of Interior rejected Wm Washington Shreves claim and then later gave him a pension.
   
   1/4/1878: date original filed
   6/9/1887 rejected: - on grounds of desertion (he then had to prove who he was, where he was and why)
   statements from his 1/2 siblings, stating his name is actually Wm Washington Shreves and that he went by the name Washington..... I assume that is why the Dept. of INT., couldn't find him, his records were messed up due to his "alias".)
   ?/19/1890: re-opened
   7/16/1890 pensioned at $12/mo for disease of eyes, injury to left arm/hand (he waited 12 years for his money!)

   2/2/1891 Delia Strickland, 1/2 sister, 40 yrs, Winchester states that Washington's real name is Wm Washington and that he lived in their home, with her & his mother, Almira Low who died July 1884 in Winchester, S/C IL
   6/29/1892: approved Invalid Pension # 791-303 - but had to have it re-examined and each injury rated separately

   2. when: 7/27/1890, Winchester, S/C IL, by LC Morehouse (yep, he got the month wrong!)
   3. proven how: married certificate
   4. other marriages: yes, Margaret Shreves, d. July 1883 Winchester, S/C IL (this mth is wrong too)
   5. children: NO
   3/2/1898 Dr. exam - wanting Increase - trying to add in the injury of his right arm, that was injured while on duty (hit by an axe while making a stable for the government, by another soldier)

   12/6/1905 Phys. Affidavit, Chas. E. Ericson, Asst. Surgeon, Quincy, Adams Co., IL
   states that Mr. Shreves was treated for & died of Bullar Paralysis in the Hospital of the IL Soldiers & Sailors home.
   
   WIDOW's Pension info:
   Declaration for Widows Pension: #831-588 REJECTED
   (Catherine was rejected for a widow's pension (Act dated 6/27/1890).
   This is due to the fact that she must have been married prior to the Act of 1890 .... ie if she had only been married one day earlier!)

   They stated that Sylvester & his sister, Delia Strickland are the 1/2 siblings of Wm Washington Shreves, that Wm Washington Shreves was 1st married to Mrs. Margaret Collins, who died at their home, July 30, 1884. Wm Washington Shreves then married Catherine Elizabeth SUTER.
   
   3/12/1924 Mr. Robinson of the Dept. requests that the pension & widow pension jacket of Wm Washington Shreve be corrected to reflect the correct name.
   3/15/1924 new jacket reads:
