     Paul Albert Borham Jr. was born on 21 January 1919 at Greenwood, Clark County, Wisconsin.1 He was the son of Paul Albert Borham and Ada Ethyl Needham.1 Paul Albert Borham Jr. died on 22 September 2005 at Harmony Assisted Living Facility, Stevens Point, Portage County, Wisconsin, at age 86.1,2 He was buried on 26 September 2005 at Saint Joseph's Cemetery, Stevens Point, Portage County, Wisconsin.3

    Paul A. Borham

    Paul A. Borham, 86, beloved husband, father and grandfather, entered into eternal life Thursday, Sept. 22, 2005, at Harmony Assisted Living Facility in Stevens Point. Paul was surrounded by his loving family and under the care of Ministry Home Care - Hospice Services.

    The funeral Mass will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Stevens Point, with the Rev. Al Burkhardt officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at Pisarski/Dzikoski Funeral Home and again from 1:30 p.m. until the time of services Monday at the church. A Bible vigil will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for the National Parkinson's Foundation, Ministry Home Care - Hospice Services and St. Joseph Catholic Church.

    Paul was born Jan. 21, 1919, in Greenwood to the late Paul Albert and Ada (Needham) Borham. He graduated from Central State Teachers College in 1941 with a degree in secondary education. On Nov. 29, 1941, Paul was married to his best friend, Grace Klein, at St. Peter's Rectory in Stevens Point. She survives.

    From 1943 to 1945, Paul was a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army Air Force. He later taught history at Granton High School, worked with the State of Wisconsin Employment Office and was employed at Sentry Insurance.

    Paul felt the need and obligation to serve his community and became politically active within Stevens Point and Portage County. He served as an alderman from 1961 until being elected mayor in 1969, a position he held through 1975. He also was a Portage County Board Supervisor from 1985 to 2000.

    Paul considered the development of area housing for the elderly and low-income residents, as well as the purchase and development of land for the Stevens Point Industrial Park as his most important accomplishments during his political career. In 1989, a street in the Stevens Point Industrial Park was named Borham Avenue.

    Paul also devoted significant time to various area organizations, including Boy Scout Troop 294, Meals on Wheels, CAP Services, the Stevens Point Junior Chamber of Commerce, the Knights of Columbus, the Catholic Family Movement and St. Joseph's Holy Name Society. He also was proud to be an usher at St. Joseph's Parish.

    Along with his wife, Paul is survived by eight children, Barbara (Clarence) Przybylski, Stevens Point, Paul Borham III, Houston, Mimi Johnson, Stevens Point, Don (Vicki) Borham, Tucson, Ariz., Peg (Bradd) Price, Merrill, Bonnie (Bruce) Cordy, Hixson, Tenn., James (Marcia Piazza) Borham, Newark, Ohio, and Carol (Kurt) Grasamkee, Plover; and one daughter-in-law, Sue Borham, Houston. He also leaves behind 30 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Paul was preceded in death by a son, Robert Borham; son-in-law, Richard Johnson; daughter-in-law, Mary Sue Borham; and two infant sons, along with two brothers and a sister.
