    Clyde E. Campbell

    BOWEN, Ill. - Clyde Edward Campbell, 78, of Bowen, Ill., died at 1:50 a.m. Saturday, July 15, 2006, at his home in Bowen with his family near him.

    He was born Feb. 27, 1928, in Oswego to Clyde and Daisy (Landrith) Campbell.

    On Nov. 3, 1945, he married his best friend, Ruby Nadean Smith, in Columbus. She survives. They lived in Oswego and Parsons until the early 1950s. He drove a taxi for Yellow Cab at the time.

    He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of the Bowen American Legion. He also was a member of Bowen United Methodist Church and is a retired volunteer firefighter for the Bowen Fire Department.

    He drove a petroleum truck for Hancock Service Co. for more than 30 years, retiring on March 1, 1988. He enjoyed woodworking and working in the flower garden. He especially enjoyed having his children and grandchildren close.

    Other survivors include five children, Steve Campbell and his wife, Donna, Patrick Campbell and his wife, Lisa Miller, and David Campbell and his wife, Kim, all of Bowen, Patricia Lynn Bacon and her husband, Kent, of Smyrna, Del., and Yvonne Mielke and her husband, Daniel, of Selma, Ala.; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Everett Campbell and his wife, June, of Hoyt and Jimmie Lee Campbell and his wife, Barbara, of Parsons; and a sister, Letha Mae Kilgore of Windsor, Mo.

    He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; and a grandson, Patrick Mielke.

    A memorial service was Tuesday at Bowen Methodist Church.

    The family suggests memorials to Hancock County Hospice, 71 S. Adams, Carthage, Ill., 62321 or Bowen Fire Department Fund, in care of David Campbell, 303 E. Third, Bowen, Ill., 62316.

    Clyde Campbell

    Clyde Edward Campbell, 78, of Bowen, Ill., died of cancer at 1:50 a.m. Saturday, July 15, 2006, at his home.

    The family will meet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Bowen United Methodist Church.

    The memorial service for Mr. Campbell will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Bowen United Methodist Church.

    Memorials have been established for the Blessing Hospice in Hancock County and the Bowen Fire Department Equipment Fund.
