It was in 1908, the 8th of July, when the descendants of John and Mary Greene met for the Greene Family Reunion in Newport, Ohio. The family came together at the home of Junius Greenwood. It was more than a day of fine food and celebration. It was a day for remembering, a day for sharing the stories that give us our place in the amazing history of the Greenes and inspire us to pass along the proud heritage to our children. Let us look briefly at the men and women from whom we receive the tales that bring life to the names on our family tree. In 1066, a Norman noble invaded England with William the Conquerer. This noble's grandson was Alexander de Greene de Boketon. He received his titles and estates from King John in 1202. That's right--1202! We will fast forward to 1635 when John Greene, Surgeon, emigrated from Salisbury, England, to Salem, just 15 years after the Pilgrims arrived in America seeking freedom of worship.
