1. According to a biographical article of John Austin CHAPMAN (son of Abner CHAPMAN and Olive FISHER) in the Biographical Record of Lorain County, Ohio (pp. 729 - 731) ... John Austin CHAPMAN was born on 7 April, 1817 in Montgomery, Mass., the son of Abner CHAPMAN (born: June 20, 1772 in CT) and Olive FISHER. Olive FISHER was the daughter of John & Muriel FISHER ... for whom Abner worked when he was a young man ... there he met the Fisher's daughter, Olive (b: 11/20/1778), and they married on 19 January, 1796 in Vergennes, Vermont. Abner and Olive (Fisher) CHAPMAN had 13 children ... who were all born in Massachusetts. The family moved from Montgomery, Mass. to Huntington Twp., Lorain Co., Ohio in 1833.
--- The article also states that the subject of the sketch, John Austin CHAPMAN had a grandfather named Isaac CHAPMAN. Isaac CHAPMAN was born in Groton, Connecticut on 18 December, 1740. His wife's name was Mary, and she was born in Plymouth, Mass. on 13 July, 1742 .. and died on 25 May, 1806 the mother of nine children -- who were all born in Groton, CT -- they were: Content, Susanna, Isaac, Mary, Abner, Elisha, Nathan, Bradford*, and Sarah.
**Note the use of the given name "Bradford" for one of the children.
2. Recently there was discussion of a family Bible of Isaac CHAPMAN, Jr. The image had been uploaded to a website. According to the image on the Bible which contained family information ... Isaac & Mary (Bradford) CHAPMAN had several children ... one of which was Abner CHAPMAN born Saturday, June 20, 1772. It also listed birth and death dates for Isaac and Mary. In this resource, Mary's birth is listed has being June 13 (or 23rd.), 1742. Since the image is a little fuzzy ... it's hard to read. The dates for Isaac are the same as what were given in the biographical article that I cited in #1. This leads me to belive that it may have been a typo. on the part of the author of the bio. article.
3. According to the book -- William Bradford Of The Mayflower and His Descendants for Four Generations, published by General Society Of Mayflower Descendants, (c)1997 ... pp. 22 and 77 ... it lists the birthdate for Mary Bradford as being June 13, 1742 in Plymouth. She was the daughter of Abner BRADFORD and Susannah POTTER. Abner BRADFORD was the son of Israel BRADFORD (born circa 1677). Israel was the son of William BRADFORD (b: 1624). William was the son of William BRADFORD and Alice CARPENTER of the Mayflower.
4. The LDS site ... FamilySearch has three entries for Isaac CHAPMAN and Mary BRADFORD. One is an IGI entry that lists them being married about 1762 in Groton, CT. Another is an Ancestral File entry which lists them being married, but giving no date of marriage .. although the dates for birth and marriage do match up to other dates that I have. And finally, a Pedigree Resource File entry that lists them ... again with no marriage date.
