HARALSON BANNER - Saturday, April 19, 1884 - Haralson's Flood. A great rainstorm--A number of bridges swept away--A number of bridges washed away! Several mills gone--farming lands covered in water--Fencing swept away

For and in consideration of the sum of thirty seven 50/100 ($37.50) to me in hand paid by the Carroll L. I. & T. Co. the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged and the further consideration to be furnished by Clardy & Andersen, their successors and assigns of the shacks built by them on my property which are to be left for my use after the timber is sawed off the property. I agree to extend the time in which the timber is to be sawed off lot 18 and north half of lot 17, Dist. 8, Sec. 5, and lot 76, Dist. 7, Sect. 5. (being the) property, or timber, sold by me to the Carroll L. I. & T. Co. the limit of which was fixed at April 1st, 1890, for twelve months from that date, that is to say till April 1, 1891. This indenture made this 17th day of March in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and ninety four between J. J. Pope, attorney in fact for heirs of H. H. Jean, deceased, of the County of Haralson and State of Georgia of the first part and O. S. Turner of the County of Haralson and State of Georgia of the second part. Witnessith that the said J. J. Pope for and in consideration of the sum of nine hundred ($900) dollars in hand paid at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipts whereof is hereby acknowledged, has granted, bargained, sold and conveyed and by the presents do grant, bargain, sell and convey unto said O. S. Turner, his heirs and assigns all that tract or parcel of land situated lying and being in the seventh & eighth districts of originally Carroll, but now Haralson County, known and distinguished in the plan of said districts to wit 202-1/2 acres known by number seventy six (76) in the seventh district & fifth section & 202-1/2 acres of lot number 18 and 101-1/4 acres of north half of lot number 17 two last numbers being in the eight district & fifth section, all containing 506-1/4 acres more or less. To have and to hold the said bargained premises with all and singular the rights, members and appearances thereof to the same being and belonging or in anywise appertaining to the only proper use, benefit and behalf of him the said O. S. Turner, his heirs, executors, administrators and assigns, in Fee Simple and the said J. J. Pope for himself as attorney in fact for said heirs, executor and administrators, the right and title to the said bargained premises unto the said O. S. Turner, his heirs, executors, administrators and assigns against the said J. J. Pope, attorney in fact for said heirs, his heirs, executors, administrators, and all and every other person or persons whatever shall and will warrant and forever defend by virtue of these presents. In witness whereof the said J. J. Pope has hereunto set his hand and affixed his seal the day and year first above written.
