Will of Moses L. Ashley, who died in 1907 in Abbeville County, South
Carolina, (from Abbeville County, SC  Courthouse  (thank you cousin
Alice for copying it)

State of South Carolina, County of Abbeville

I, Moses Ashley, of the County of Abbeville, State of South Carolina,
being of sound mind and memory do make, publish and declare this to be
my last will and testament, to wit:

1st    All my just debts and funeral expenses shall first be paid out
of what cash I may have on hand or debts that may be due me at my death
and in case there should not be enough of money from these two sources
to pay my indebtedness then I empower executors to sell enough of my
personal property to pay all my just debts.

2nd  I will and bequeath to my sons I.N. Ashley and M.C. Ashley and my
grandson Robt. Alonzo Ashley that tract of land known as the Key place
containing 146 acres  more or less to share each alike except that I
will that  I.N. Ashley shall  have his share of the said land on which
the houses are built and he now lives and to R.M. Ashley,  Martha Jane
Ashley and Margaret Elizabeth Ashley my homestead plaace where I now
reside containing 190 acress more or less and also all my personal
property.

3rd   I nominate and appoint my sons I.N. Ashley,  M.C. Ashley and R.M.
Ashley to be the executors of this my last will and testament hereby
revoking all former wills by me made.

In witness whereof I have hereof set  my hand and seal this the 26th

Signed, sealed, published and declared as and for his last will and
testament by the above named testator in our presence, who have, at his
request and in his presence and in the presence of each other, signed
our names as witnesses thereto.

To:  J.F. Miller, Judge of Probate:

This petition of the petitioners would respectfully show to the Court:
First: That M.L. Ashley,  late of said State and County, died on or
about the 22nd day of July 1907 leaving a will and testament:
Second:  That deceased left as his legatees and devisees the following
named persons, viz:
Martha Jane Ashley,   I.N. Ashley,   R.M. Ashley,  M.C. Ashley,
Margaret E. Ashley,  and R.A. Ashley.
Third:  That your petitioners  I.N. Ashley,  M.C. Ashley and R.M.
Ashley are named in said will as executors thereof.....

Personally appeared,  I.N. Ashley, and R.M. Ashley  and on oath says
that the statements contained in the foregoing are true to the best of
their knowledge and belief.           Sworn to before me this  ?  day
of July 1907.
