Annie R. Ashley Atherton will
Subject: LaDove, Robert P. and John T. Ashley info

In looking through the AlaBenton Genealogical Quarterly from the
genealogy society which came today in the mail, noticed a Will
abstract which mentions LaDove, Robert P. and John T. Ashley, as follows:

Calhoun County, AL Will Book "A" page 360 - - Will of Annie R.
Martin Atherton of Anniston, Alabama. $800. each to LayDove Ashley,
Robert P. Ashley, and John T. Ashley, and to Beck Minor Ashley.
Daughters: Mrs. Susan A. Holcombe and Mrs. W.B. Robertson and my
husband William Atherton.

Executor: Addison F. McGehee.
Dated March 8, 1907.
Witnesses: Jno. W. Coleman and Miss Nora Carr.
Probated Aut 25, 1908.

I have found that the actual Will/Estate record from the courthouse
has a great deal more family information than these abstracts give, and
if you haven't already seen it, might be additional info in it and
worth getting a copy of it from the Calhoun Co., AL courthouse. It
doesn't give the address for the courthouse, but is probably listed
somewhere on the web, or maybe the Calhoun County, AL web site.

This is yet another spelling of Ladove (La Dove). Son Moses is
missing. This is the first we have heard of son John T.
Daughter "Mrs. W.B. Robertson" is erroneous version of "Mrs. M.B.
Robertson". This was Mandy Becky whose name in her own bible and
on her gravestone was given as "M.B. Robertson". Beck Minor is
believed to be daughter Rebecca M. All 3 named daughters were
Annie R.'s stepdaughters. Mandy Becky was a very young child when
Annie R. became her very young stepmother. Mandy Becky lived a
short distance from Annie R. at their deaths. Mandy Becky lived
on the property on which Moses was buried. Annie R.'s burial site
is not known.]
