Lester P. Johns
Sr. enlisted in the Navy in 1917. He served on the Battleship Connecticut
in WW1. This ship was torpedo'ed and sunk. Lester Sr was at first
listed as lost and his son who had been baptized Carl had his name
changed to Lester P Johns Jr. after his Father. 1918, Was
signal man in the USN. on Battleship
Lester P SR. came home and worked for the
Barret Roofing Plant as a time keeper until the plant was closed.
He worked on the Levee Board in the field as a timekeeper for 12
years. In the depression years he started selling Chevrolet cars
and did so until WW2 when he went to work in a defense industry
plant. After the war he worked for Convair A/Craft in California
as a parts dept manager until he died.

Served in the U.S. Navy during WWI as an Apprentice Seaman.......commissioned
at Pelham Bay (Great Lakes area) as Ensign, USNR. HLJ's Veteran's
Benefit No. which he apparently
attached importance to was C 1313487. His Social Security No. was
201-30-5212.
