FOOTNOTES

1 But see death certificate, which reports place of birth as Allentown, PA
2 Date of death according to the death certificate (obtained from the City of New York), although Letitia R. Dawson Johnson in a note appended to a letter (her mother-in-law's last letter to her) said she died "Wednesday night" August 18, 1909.
3 Place of birth is recorded by Hazel Dickson Tamberella as Ireland
4  Death Certificate of Samuel Robbins Dickson.
5 Although we have seen no confirmation that John Dickson's middle name is Ashton, the back page of the Family Bible of John & Hannah (Robbins) Dickson contains the following notations:

John Dickson Sen
His Bible
John Dickson Sen
His Bible
John Dickson                 Ejus  Liber
John Dickson                 Ejus Liber

Given the references to John Dickson as "Sen" (Senior) and the fact  that his son was named John Ashton Dickson, it seems possible  that  John Dickson's middle name is Ashton and this is also stated by other researchers.
6  From letter of Gertrude N. Brick, per headstone in the M.E. Cemetery on Ellisdale Road (presumably in the neighborhood of Chesterfield, NJ); the name on the gravestone is John Dickinson.
7 Family Bible of John & Hannah (Robbins) Dickson
8  Taken from Family Bible of John & Hannah (Robbins) Dickson, although other researchers with perhaps better information give death date as Sep. 14, 1868
9  One record of her marriage in the Family Bible of John & Hannah (Robbins) Dickson refers to her as Hannie Dickson.
