"The Tindall family in this part of New Jersey, were probably descended from Thomas and Isabelle, who came from England about 1678, and purchased a tract of land in what is now (1907) Hamilton township, Mercer county. This land was situated on the north bank of Crosswicks creek, between the old Abbott and Watson tracts, and the old cemetery known as the Pearson graveyard is on this Tindall tract, and in all probability the graves of the earlier members of the Tindall family are located in it. He owned land in Burlington County, New Jersey. 1  He was born in England. 2"  3

"Sept. 13, 1709.--Grand jury by law directed to select assessors and collectors to raise money to destroy wolves, panthers, crows, blackbirds, etc. The following were chosen: Assessors--Thomas Tindall, William Emley, Nottingham." 3

"THE FIRST SETTLEMENT OF QUAKERS IN AMERICA WAS IN 1677 AT BURLINGTON, NJ, FOUNDED BY 230 QUAKERS FROM LONDON AND YORKSHIRE. THE OLDEST HOUSE THERE IS THE REVELL HOUSE ON E. PEARL ST., BUILT IN 1685, NOW IN THE CARE OF THE BURLINGTON FOUNDATION, INC. THE HANDWRITTEN RECORD BOOK OF THOMAS REVELL, JUSTICE OF THE PEACE, BURLINGTON, NJ CONTAINS THE FOLLOWING ENTRY, COPIED BY THE AUTHOR FROM A PHOTOSTAT OF THE ORIGINAL SUPPLIED BY THE OFFICE OF THE SECRETARY OF THE STATE OF NJ:
BENJAMIN MAPLIN & ELIZABETH LEE JUNE 4TH, 1695 BENJAMIN MAPLIN & ELIZABETH LEE SOLEMNIZED THEIR MARRIAGE AT THE HOUSE OF THOMAS REVELL IN THE COUNTY OF BURLINGTON THE FOURTH DAY OF JUNE 1695: BEFORE THOMAS REVELL, JUSTICE: AND THESE WITNESSES: THOMAS TINDALL, MATHEW CHAMPION, ROBERT CHAPMAN, ROBERT PEARSON, HUGH HUTCHIN, WILLIAM WARDELL, WILLIAM SPENSER, JOHN DICKSON, ROBERTA CHAPMAN, ELIZABETH BINGHAM & ALICE BINGHAM." 4
