MARTIN LEGGETT VAN TINE
Martin VanTine, his wife Sarah A., and his children are buried at Dale Cemetery, Ossining, NY.  His wife died at the age of 78 and was buried April 12, 1911.

According to NYC directory listings from the 1850's through the 1880's, Martin was initially a clerk, then a grocer, then a brickmaker, before settling to being a produce merchant.  He and his family lived in a variety of locations at Greenwich, Washington, and Chambers Streets. 1

AUGUSTA KENNARD VAN TINE
Augusta was reportedly accustomed to comfortable circumstances, and her husband George White Hawkins was for a time able to provide Augusta and her children with a comparable lifestyle, replete with servants and governesses.  At some point, however, he lost his position as an engineer in charge of the public water works in Queens NY, resulting in drastically reduced circumstances for the family - a source of continuing conflict between Augusta and her husband.
