As remembered by Viola Alice Price
May 1987
My Great Grandfather, Pendleton Jump was born at Five Forks of Grassy Creek, Pendleton County, Kentucky on January 7, 1818. He had a younger half brother, Greene Jump. They lived on top of the Vine Run hill above the town of Folsom, Kentucky. Folsom is on the banks of the Big Eagle Creek. Green Jump had two children, Whit and Milt Jump. They were never married. I do not know who Pendleton Jump's mother or father were.
Pendleton was married three times. His first wife was the daughter of Neddie Points, who was a scout and had been scalped by the Indians. Do not know his daughters' first name. But she had a brother, I know because Ollie and Oscar Points were my Grandmother's cousins.
Pendleton Jump had fifteen children. The eldest was Jane, who married Isaac "Ike" Beach, brother of Tom, Matt and Nan Beach. Of his first children I know only Jane, Jim, and Joe.
Forgot all Great Grandfather's children were named after Generals the only ones I remember is Fanny Sherman, Molly Grant, and of course, Uncle Dime, Elmarine Thompson.
Pendleton was a small man - had a goatee. Had a habit of opening his pocket knife and picking the arm of the chair the was sitting in. Holes that went all the way through. He made his home in Elliston with his daughter Jane, but died on a visit to his daughter, Molly.
