Grandson of Obediah Childress, Sr.
(Obediah Childress, Sr. > son John Childress
(1822-1859) > grandson Ezekiel Childress)
Ezekiel Childress (below, left) and his older brother Obediah were
born about a year apart, both in Mississippi. They migrated south to Texas
in the latter part of the nineteen century, both ultimately settling around the
Blackfoot Village, Texas area in Anderson County. Ezekiel was twice
married and fathered three children with his first wife Mary Lynn Hill
(1853-1885), below center, and seven more with his second wife Mary Elizabeth
Weir (abt. 1860-1910). Ezekiel's third child by his first marriage, Mary
Lula Childress (1885-1970), and her husband Sylvester Vestle Hogue
(b. abt. 1885) are shown in the photo on the right.
