RAPP, PARFITT, KLETTAND RELATED FAMILIES~HOME PAGE~ |
Visitor Number | Since 19 June 2001 |
This page will eventually contain the results of the research of my ancestral lines. The initial posting will cover the descendants of Silas Parfitt and Ann Barber who, for several generations, were stone and coal miners in Somersetshire and Staffordshire, England. Some family members emigrated to the United States in the mid-nineteenth century settling primarily in the coal fields of Pennsylvania where many remain to this day. Others moved further west to Ohio and beyond while my immediate ancestors, after short stays in Colorado and Illinois, came east to settle in northern New Jersey.
I have added the descendants of Gottlieb Klett and Pauline Schlenker who emigrated from Germany in 1882 to Elizabeth, New Jersey. In the near future, I hope to post ancestors and descendants of Wilhelm Rapp who came from Barbelroth, Germany to Newark, New Jersey.
The presentations on this page are in various stages of completion. Research of all of the family lines is continuing and updates to the pages will be posted as discovery of new information dictates.
USING THESE FAMILY JOURNALS
These journals are works in progress and contain many omissions and undetected inaccuracies. Some of the information has been gathered from undocumented sources and is presented as a framework of clues for others to utilize in pursuing further research. All names, dates, and places that are included have not been verified by me.
Where I have been able to locate reasonably reliable sources, the events are documented in the End Notes. These notes are accessible by clicking on the hyperlinks immediately following the individual events (the superscripted numbers). I have purposely omitted references to sources of undocumented information feeling that to do so would imply verification.
I sincerely hope that anyone detecting inaccuracies or omissions in these works or having questions regarding their content will contact me. I request that, if possible, sources for additional or conflicting information be included so that I may verify the information prior to posting additions or corrections.

Silas Parfitt Descendants | Many descendants of Silas Parfitt (1767-1850) and his wife Ann Barber remained in England while others emigrated to the United States in the mid-nineteenth century. Male family members were mostly stone and coal miners and many of those who came to the United States settled in the coal field regions of Pennsylvania. About 1900, many of the Pennsylvania miners left the coal fields and migrated to other parts of the country and their descendants are now found in various parts of the US. |
Rapp Family Coming Soon | Ancestors and descendants of Wilhelm (William) Rapp of Barbelroth, Germany who came to the United States in 1860 and settled in Newark, New Jersey. Most of his descendants remained in northern New Jersey for more than one hundred years. |
Gottlieb Klett Descendants | Descendants of Gottlieb Klett of Suhl, Thüringen, Germany who came to the United States in 1882 and settled in Elizabeth, New Jersey. Most of his descendants remained in the Elizabeth area for more than a century. Lack of ready access to the Suhl Church records is delaying the determination of Gottlieb Klett's ancestry. |
