   and administrative capacity; town clerk W. Maitland 1867, holding position 8-9 years; succeeded father as publican.
   Chmn 1st building soc. formed at W. Maitland; trustee Savings Bank. Later moved to Dundas; then Waverley.
   Alderman W. Maitland 6 years, mayor twice; mayor Dundas 13 years in succession; alderman Waverley 3 years.
   MLA for W. Maitland 25 Nov. 1880-23 Nov. 1882.
