I've been away on holiday for the last week, hence my delay in 
replying :-) Sorry.
 
My snail address is 5 Fairlawn Grove, London W4 5EL.

I have the birth certificate for John Alfred Mason, born Batley Carr, 
Dewsbury district, Yorkshire. This states his parents as Sarah HARGREAVES
and 
William MASON a woolen weaver, of Batley Carr.

They had 2 children to my knowledge. There may have been others.

John Alfred MASON born 6th May 1855 Batley Carr, Yorkshire died 16th Jul
1930 The Bronx, New York
 and
Annie W. MASON b. 1857, England.

John A. and Annie emigrated to Newburgh, NY, USA in 1868/9. I don't 
know whether their parents or any siblings went too.

John A.  married Georgiana L. NIVER of Newburgh 27th Feb 1877.

They had a son Joseph Warren Teets MASON b. 3rd Jan 1879 Newburgh, New
York 
died 13th May 1941 New York, USA who married Edith Hannah
HALBERT on 24th Feb 1903. She died 8th Nov 1951 England, UK

They had Margaret Edith Halbert MASON b. 8th Mar 1905 Leyton, Essex 
died 16th May 1976 Redhill, Surrey who married 2nd Apr 1932
Alec Hibburd LAURIE 16th Apr 1907 Edinburgh, Scotland - c. 1985 
Cambridge, England. They moved to England. Margaret 
naturalised in protest at the USA not entering WWII.

They had Peter Charles Somerville LAURIE * 1937 who married Barbara 
Frances PETERS * 1938

They had Bennet (Ben) Russell Thad LAURIE * 1960 who is my common law 
husband.

I have siblings and exact dates for most of the above, but the
ancestor line stops at William MASON and Sarah HARGREAVES.

It is possible that they were non-conformists. John A. MASON was a 
practising member of  the Methodist church in NY, an exhorter and 
vestryman..
