S. Q. RICHARDSON CASE.

In the case of Mary H. Long et al. vs. Jno. W. McCoy et al., in which a receiver is prayed for to take charge of the estate of the late S. Q. Richardson. Judge Richard Morgan, of the forty-fourth district court, yesterday afternoon, requested the attorneys in the case to submit additional evidence covering the disposition of property after the death of Mary J. Richardson; the community debt at her death exclusive of interest payments, if any, made since, and when, and several other matters, along the same line. Ten days were given the lawyers in which to secure the required evidence.
It will be remembered that this case is the outcome of the discovery of two wills at the death of S. Q. Richardson. One was filed in Dallas county, while the other was subject for litigation in the courts of Van Zandt county. Several fine points are involved and the outcome is awaited with much interest. The case was submitted to Judge Morgan about three weeks ago.

IN MEMORIAM.

A sketch of the life of Dr. J. T. Baker, who died April 20, 1901, at his home on Main street, in the city of Dallas, Tex., having known Dr. Baker intimately since 1876. When I first knew him, he was a young man preaching for the Christian churches in Southern Illinois, dividing his time between the work of a pastor and the study of medicine. Being deprived of his parents at an early age, and thus thrown upon his resources by the innate force of character, which he possessed, he worked his way up through difficulties, which others might have considered insurmountable.
As a graduate of a Bible, as well as a medical college, he was eminently fitted for a long and useful life. About seven years ago, he had the misfortune to lose his wife, of whose lovely Christian character, all who knew her, speak in praise. Since that time, he and his only son, who survives him, have made their home in Dallas, where he had a large circle of friends. A man of many sorrows and wrongs, yet through it all, he ever wavered in his faith in Christ, but trusted fully that in God's own time, all would be made right. In his profession, he was always kind, patient and encouraging; a staunch and honest friend, always fearlessly standing up for the right. May his soul find rest in heaven.
                                                                     A FRIEND.

MANGLED BY MACHINERY.
______

Horrible Fate of Robert Urquhart, an
Oiler at Standard Company's Plant.
His Death Was Instantaneous.

Robert Urquhart, a white man, about 45 years of age, employed as oiler of machinery in the Standard Light and Power Company's plant at the corner of North Ervay street and Pacific avenue, was instantly killed yesterday morning at 9:30 o'clock. He was caught in the breaking of an eight-inch leather belt and dashed to the ground. His neck was broken, also both arms and legs.
When the accident occurred, Urquhart was standing near the blowing machine, to which the belt was attached, talking to Superintendent Nichols. Mr. Nichols, in speaking of the accident, said:
"I was talking to Urquhart and had turned to give him a message, when, to my astonishment, he had completely disappeared. Looking around, I was horrified to find that the belt of the blowing machine had broken, and in breaking, had wrapped itself around Urquhart's body and, lifting him completely off his feet, threw him over one of the shafts of the machine and then dashed him to the ground with great violence. He was killed instantly."
Urquhart was originally from Chicago, and came to Dallas nearly fifteen years ago. Before he accepted the position with the light and power company, he fired on several railroads running out of Dallas. Urquhart has a brother in Louisville, Ky., who was promptly notified of the accident.

STARTLING DISCOVERY
IN TURTLE CREEK.

_______

Body of W. T. Buckart Found by a Farmer,
Indications Are That Death Was Acci-
dental--He Was a German.

This morning at 8 o'clock, a passing farmer discovered the body of a man lying on his back in Turtle Creek, above the Preston road bridge. The police station was promptly notified and officers sent to the scene. The body was removed to the morgue, where it was identified as that of William T. Buckart, a German carpenter.
Justice Skelton has not as yet returned a verdict as to the cause of his death.
Last Saturday, Buckart was sent to the city hospital for treatment of a wound in his head, and some time during Sunday night, left the hospital and, it is presumed, started for Dallas. As the night was very dark, he missed the bridge across the stream and walked over an embankment about a hundred yards lower down. He fell thirty feet, striking a rock and rolling into the creek. When found, his face was covered with blood and was much swollen. It is supposed that he fell face forward, striking on his head and dislocating his neck, causing instant death. He was a native of Germany and about fifty-five years old.
