ONE KILLED
ANOTHER INJURED

______

Accident at West Dallas Cement
Plant Sunday.

In an accident at the Portland Cement Works, about four miles west of the city, about 6 o'clock yesterday afternoon, Chris Henriksen was killed and A. M. Rochester seriously injured. The accident occurred just a few minutes before the men were to go off duty. A heavy chain, called the "carrier," parted in the center, and on account of the large weight, it was supporting, flew around with such force, striking the men. Henriksen was struck on the head and killed instantly, while Rochester had the bone of the let wrist fractured, the left hip badly injured, and he was injured internally. He was removed to his home in West Dallas, and is under the care of Drs. W. R. Stovall and Elbert Dunlay. He is much improved today and the indications are that he will live.
Henrikson was about twenty-four years of age and has been in Dallas for the past seven years. He came here from Ellis county. He is survived by a wife.
Rochester came here about a week ago from Birmingham, Ala.
Justice of the Peace, J. A. Long, acted as coroner and gave as his verdict that the deceased came to his death from a blow on the forehead, received as above stated. The remains will be turned over to Undertakers Ed C. Smith & Bro., and will be buried in the West Dallas cemetery this afternoon at 4 o'clock, under the auspices of the Odd Fellows and Masons, of which lodges he was a member.
