WHO WE ARE
Our interests vary greatly from genealogy, song,
drama, Cornish language and culture as well as a Cornish dance group that is
currently in recess due to some recent retirements.
Our Cornish born members are always willing to help Australian Cornish
descendants with place names and pronunciation and the drama group entertain and
introduce the Cornish accent to the uninitiated.
LIBRARY
We have an extensive lending library which is available to members. It consists
of both fiction and non fiction. With new books being purchased regularly.

AIMS
Southern Sons of Cornwall Inc. is an association of people
with Cornish connections.
Membership is open to those having Cornish ancestry or
with a deep interest in all things Cornish.
Our aims are:
To assist in the creation and maintenance of members genealogical
records;
To research Cornish history and to communicate such information to
members via a periodical newsletter and via presentations and
discussions at the regular meetings.
To keep au fait with matters relating to other Cornish associations
functioning in Australia and other countries and where appropriate, communicate
this information to members.
HISTORY
In November 1998, Julie Wheeler and Sonia
Reuter, who were members of the Cornish Association of New South Wales (CANSW)
decided that as they lived some 150kms from the CANSW meeting venues, they would
establish a sister organisation to be located in the Shoalhaven region, where
they both lived.
During the
intervening years, they have built Southern Sons of Cornwall Inc. (SSoC) to its
present position, respected Australia-wide as well as internationally, as an
active and interesting Cornish Association.
