212. Gideon COMSTOCK^84,97 was born on 4 November 1709.⁸⁷ He died in 1801 at the age of 92.¹³⁸

This record from Smithfield does not agree with the Comstock books which list this marriage as 1729:

The Comstock book also states that Gideon married 2nd to Freelove Arnold, widow of Josiah, and third Amey, surname unknown. The only wife known to Josiah was Amey Phillips so likely she was the widow Arnold who married Gideon.

Gideon was on a list of freemen from Smithfield in 1747. A Gideon Comstock was also listed in Providence in 1748. Only one Gideon Comstock was known to be living in Rhode Island at that time.

Gideon was administrator of the estate of his father-in-law Richard Arnold. Richard Arnold had left Rhode Island and was presumed death. Gideon brought suit against Thomas Man, who had married Richard's widow in 1743. Gideon said Man had taken away personal estate of Arnold in the amount of 275 £. Man did not pay and was jailed.

Gideon COMSTOCK and Ruth ARNOLD were married on 3 March 1738/9 in Smithfield, Providence County, Rhode Island.^87,97,138 Ruth ARNOLD, daughter of Richard ARNOLD and Ruth ALDRICH, was born in 1723. She died on 11 May 1748 at the age of 25 in Providence County, Rhode Island.

Stone in the North Burial Ground, Providence, says "In Memory of Mrs. Ruth Comstock Wife of Mr. Gideon Comstock Dec'd. May ye 11th 1748 in ye 25th Year of her Age.

Gideon COMSTOCK and Ruth ARNOLD had the following children:

There is a stone marker, North Burial Ground, Providence, that has no birth date, but a death date of Nov 3, 1747 and says "In Memory of Ruth Daughter of Mr. Gideon & Mrs. Ruth Comstock Decd. Nov, ye 3rd 1747. Aged 3 Years.
409	iv.	True COMSTOCK was born on 14 February 1746 in Smithfield, Providence County, Rhode Island.¹³⁹

Gideon COMSTOCK and Amey PHILLIPS were married before June 1749.^140,141 Amey PHILLIPS was born in 1723.¹⁴⁰ She died on 7 October 1811 at the age of 88.¹⁴⁰ [Amey believed to be daughter of Amer; other two children not known for sure.]
