970. Kenney Maurice COMSTOCK was born on 3 September 1914 in Van Buren, Crawford County, Arkansas.37,273 He served in the military in 1942 at Capt. in the War; Lt. Col. in Army Reserves in World War II (Army). He died on 2 April 2006 at the age of 91 in Rogers, Washington County, Arkansas.

There was always a huge discussion in the family regarding K. M.'s middle name since he was always believed to be a 'Junior'. His Dad's middle name was Marcus - as on his delaying Arkansas birth certificate. K. M. thought it was Morris. Somewhere along the line, the spelling was thought to be Maurice.

The family moved into Van Buren for awhile and K.M. was born there; then they moved back to "Stony Point" at Uniontown.

Capt. Kenney M. Comstock, Jr., who has been overseas 44 months, and T/4 Graydon E. Comstock, who has been in England and France for 13 months, are on their way home. They are the sons of Mr. & Mrs. K. M. Comstock, 428 North College Avenue. Capt. Comstock is on a 45-day leave. He is with the Army of Occupation. Graydon is on his way home and will receive his discharge. A third son, Lt. Ira A. Comstock is at Marseilles, France. The three brothers were together on a three-day pass in February.

Retired Lt. Colonel Kenney M. Comstock
, 91, of Rogers died Sunday, April 2, 2006, at Northwest Medical Center of Benton County in Bentonville. He was born Sept. 3, 1914, in Van Buren to Kenney and Nora Hays Comstock. He was reared in Van Buren and Fayetteville, where he was honorable mention all-state in football at Fayetteville High. He attended the University of Arkansas where he received a 2nd Lt. Commission at the University of Arkansas in 1939.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and served four years in the European theater, followed by teaching ROTC at Arlington High School in Fort Worth, Texas. He returned home to Northwest Arkansas where he served in the U.S. Army Reserves. He was active for 13 years as a sales representative with Berry Dry Goods Co. He was active then in the insurance business as a broker from 1961-1990.
Kenney was a member of First Christian Church of Springdale, a life member of the Retired Officers Association, the National Association for Uniformed Services and the American Legion Post #100. He was a Razorbacks fan and contributor to the Razorback Foundation for more than 50 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother; and his wife of 49 years, Emma LaVonne Denney Comstock. He is survived by two sons, Kenney Comstock Jr. and wife Carmen of Rogers and Gary Comstock and wife Donna of Bartlesville, Okla.; a daughter, Mary Jane Comstock of Fort Smith; two brothers, John Comstock of San Francisco and Ira Comstock of Virginia Beach, Va.; a sister, JoEllen McKim of Springdale; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Sisco Funeral Chapel in Springdale, with the family present from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with Bob Crafton officiating. Burial will be in Bluff Cemetery with military honors by Rogers American Legion Post #100.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Williams, Matt Crafton, Lance Moore, Allen Carney, Marlin Barnhart and Quentin Barnhart. Memorials can be made to First Christian Church, 2120 W. Emma, Springdale AR 72762.

Kenney Maurice COMSTOCK and Emma LaVonne DENNEY were married on 6 June 1946 in Fayetteville, Washington County, Arkansas. Emma LaVonne DENNEY, daughter of Bruce Jasper Lawrence DENNEY and Eva BATTEN, was born on 15 October 1919 in War Eagle, Benton County, Arkansas. She died on 14 December 1994 at the age of 75 in Springdale, Washington County, Arkansas. She was buried at Bluff Cemetery in Springdale, Washington County, Arkansas.

Emma LaVonne Comstock, 75, of Springdale died Dec. 14, 1994, at Springdale Memorial Hospital. She was born Oct 15, 1919, at War Eagle to Bruce J. and Eva Batten Denney. She grew up in the Lincoln and Fayetteville area and graduated from the University High School at Fayetteville. She attended the University of Arkansas School of Business. She was a former singer for the Denney Sisters Trio and a member of the First Christian Church of Springdale and was a choir member. She was a caretaker of others and enjoyed fishing.
Survivors include her husband, retired Lt. Col. Kenney M. Comstock of the home, to whom she was married on June 6, 1946; two sons, Kenney M. Comstock Jr. of Rogers and Gary L. Comstock of Bartlesville, Okls; one daughter Mary Jane Comstock of Rogers; one sister Eva Jo Browne of Dallas, Texas; one brother, Bruce B. Denney of Fayetteville; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Christian Church of Springdale with the Rev. John Wrench officiating. Burial will be in Bluff Cemetery under the direction of Sisco Chapel of Springdale.
Pallbearers will be Jack Larson, Jimmy Culp, Charles Denney, Larry Thompson, Dan Crouthers, and James Irwin.
Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church of Springdale.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
