History of John Scott, 1761-1843, by Kenneth Scott.
John, Jacob [and their families], and their nephew Allen Clement Scott (son of Nimrod Sr) along with his wife and his sister, Sallie who was married to William Scott, came in the same wagon train to their new home in Kentucky, Nimrod, Sr. followed 1817-1820. This group of Scotts were located in the south central section of the county and were spread early north from the satate line along Kettle Creek and on PeaRidge up to at least Galloway Creek. This group of Scotts by far have the largest number of descendants in the Cumberland, KY area.

I have been told that the Clement family used the given name Wilmoth and that is one more reason for thinking Wilmoth's mother might have been Lucy Clement or Lucy Clement Walker and perhaps a young widow when she married Thomas. Have found no evidence of this at all.

Nimrod Scott is on the 1820 Cumberland Co KY census.
1m age 16-26, 1m 45+, 1f -10, 1f 16-26, 1f 45+
Looks like it could be Nimrod and spouse, over 45, maybe a married child with a young daughter living with them.
They were not there in 1810.

1830 Cumberland, all on the same page of the census:
Joel Scott, 1m 20-30, 1m 30-40, 2f -5, 1f 20-30
Nimrod Scott Senr 1m 70-80, 1f 10-15 [would seem to be a widower]
Jeremiah Scott 2m 10-15, 1m 30-40, 2f -5, 3f 5-10, 1f 10-15, 1f 30-40
Clement Scott 1m 15-20, 1m 20-30, 1m 50-60; 1f -5, 2f 5-10, 1f 10-15, 1f 15-20, 1f 20-30, 1f 40-50
Nimrod Scott Junr 1m 30-40, 2f 20-30

More on children of Wilmoth & Nimrod Scott:
Clement, b. ca 1786 VA; d. Aug 1840 in Cumberland Co KY. Married Sarah Slaydon 25 Nov 1800 Allegheny Co PA [I think this is wrong.... I believe Thomas' brother Clement Walters was married to Sarah "Sallie" Slaydon and I doubt that the marriage took place in Allegheny Co as the Slaydons lived in Pittsylvania Co where the Walters were living at the time. I also do not believe Clement Scott married at age 14.]
Keziah, b. abt 1790, Pittsylvania Co VA; d. 1855 Noxubee Co MS. Married George Washington Phillips [1787-1866] on 21 Mar 1809, Pittsylvania Co VA Found in 1850 Noxubee MS Census, p.252, Household 918.
Jeremiah, b. abt 1792, VA. Married Annie Walters on 15 Dec 1815, Halifax Co VA
Jane, b. 1793, d. Cumberland Co KY. Married (1) Nash Glidewell and (2) Samuel H. Barnes on 25 Sep 1815, Halifax Co VA (marriages were the other way around - Barnes was first)

[This list gave no Sally/Sarah Scott]

This group of Scotts by far have the largest number of descendants in the Cumberland, KY area.

1810: Burksville, Cumberland, KY
Scotts were: Absalom [age 26-45], Henry [age 26-45 and listed in a row with Thos. and Saml.] , Saml [age 26-45], Thos [age +45], Jacob and John [both over 45 and listed next to each other] . No Allen or Clement and no William Scott listed as head of household. John Scott did list three males age 16-26 in his household, but no women of comparable age.
A Thomas Scott has been suggested in some databases as father of the Scotts in Cumberland.

In 1820, Listed as Paoli, Cumberland, KY
Nimrod, Sr., Clement, Joel, Jeremiah, and Nimrod Jr.
Jacob and John still listed next to each other, and both over age 45. Absalom now also over 45.
Samuel Scott was still in the 26-45 age group. Thomas over 45. Henry not there but there was a widow Nancy Scott on the same page with Samuel & Thomas - she was age 26-45.
Other Scotts added were Nathaniel and Shadrach, both 26-45, next to each other, and on the same page with Samuel, Thomas, and Nancy Scott.
And there was apparently a young Scott widow - Sally, with a little boy under 10, and she was age 16-26.

Wilmoth WALTERS and Nimrod SCOTT had the following children:

+48

i.

Clement SCOTT.

49

ii.

Sallie SCOTT was born circa 1788 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia.

Married William Scott. Nimrod Sr may have had brothers John & Jacob who also removed to Cumberland Co - possibly William was a nephew and a cousin to Sallie.

1830 Census. Cumberland, KY
William Scott. 2m under 10, 2m 10-16, 1m age 26-45. 3 females under 10, 1 female age 26-45.

1840, Cumberland, KY - neither of these is a good match for William & Sallie:
Wm Scott. 1m age 30-40. 2f under 5, 1f 20-30
and
Wm Scott, c.c. 1m under 5, 1m 15-20, 1m 20-30, 1m 50-60. 1f 50-60.

The only William Scott still in Cumberland in 1850 was apparently a widower. He was Hh 281, and was age 56 [born ca 1794], b. Virginia. Living with him was a female, P. M. Scott, age 19, b. KY. Next door in Hh 280 was Robert Scott, age 32, b. KY - a likely candidate for a son.
