44. Ezra WALTERS^{12,19,28,170,171} was born about 1777.¹⁰ He died in September 1840 at the age of 63 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia.¹⁹

I have seen a suggested birth year of 1783 for Ezra and he was placed as the youngest. Since he married in 1795, this is not likely. He was surely born by 1775 and was the eldest child of John and Eleanor Spiers Walters. One had to be age 14 to witness a will or deed, the following record is further proof of his age:

Marriage to Elizabeth Shackelford. Bond date. Ezra must have been quite young - maybe only 17/18 years old. There is no other Ezra available. Alexander Glaspy [Gillispy?] and William Rainey were bondsmen/witnesses.

1820 Census. Pittsylvania Co VA, p.65 Izra Walters. Over age 45. 1f age 16-26, 1f 26-45.

1830 Census. Pittsylvania Co VA. Ezra Walters. 1m age 50-60. 1f age 30-40.

1840 Census. Pittsylvania Co VA. Ezra Walters, 1m age 60-70. 1f age 40-50.

The will of Ezra is said to mention only two daughters, Sally Walters Ivans and Tabitha Walters Stanley. No information about when his wife Lydia may have died. The Lydia Walters, widow, in the 1850 Pittsylvania Census was the widow of Ezekiel Walters, unrelated to Ezra.

Ezra WALTERS and Elizabeth SHACKELFORD were married on 24 December 1795 in Caswell County, North Carolina.¹⁶⁵ Elizabeth SHACKELFORD was born (date unknown).

Ezra WALTERS and Elizabeth SHACKELFORD had the following children:

238	i.	Sarah "Sally" WALTERS¹⁹ was born (date unknown). Sally married an Ivans as stated in her father's will.
239	ii.	Tabitha WALTERS¹⁹ was born on 29 August 1800 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia.¹⁹ She died on 24 March 1880 at the age of 79 in Jessamine County, Kentucky.¹⁹ Tabitha married Luke W. Stanley. He was b. 5 Jun 1794 and d. 28 Mar 1856 in Jessamine Co KY. They are both buried in the Wallace-Reagan Cemetery in Jessamine Co KY.

Ezra WALTERS and Lydia NELSON were married on 15 November 1815 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia.¹² Lydia NELSON was born in 1785 in Virginia.⁶⁹
