23. Elizabeth "Betty" WALTERS^15,83 was born about 1755 in Halifax County, Virginia.

Error: Betty married John Slayton on 16 Dec 1799 in Pittsylvania Co. by Elias Dodson according to the Walters book. This is wrong - that Betsy was the daughter of Robert Walters & Seletha McBee of Pittsylvania Co. The daughter of Robert & Joannah lived in Franklin Co GA in 1799 and would not have been going back to Virginia to marry!

Another researcher stated she married John Presswood which is closer to the truth. However, returns of the settlement of her father's estate provide the correct name. Elizabeth "Betty, Bitsy, or Betsy" Walters married John Prestridge, probably about 1773. He was a son of John Prestridge and Nancy Larkin, born about 1750 in Virginia, died about 1794. The Prestridges had a tract of land near one of the parcels belonging to Robert Walters.

Elizabeth "Betty" WALTERS and John PRESTRIDGE were married.⁸⁴ John PRESTRIDGE^10,84 was born about 1750 in Virginia.⁸⁴ He died about 1797 at the age of 47 in Franklin County, Georgia.

John Prestridge was the son of an earlier John Prestridge and Nancy Larkin.

To Samuel Prestidge, my second son, I give a black mare five years old Branded on the near shoulder and Buttock with a small "L" a Cow called Hart and her Calf and one Rifle gun, To John, my third son, I give a set of Blacksmiths Tools, one Wagon and Gears, one yearling Mare Colt and four three grass Steers Marked with a cross and two slits in each ear.
