75. Asa WALTERS/WATERS^37,39,46,189 was born in 1795 in Virginia.¹⁸⁹ He died before September 1868 at the age of 73 in Montgomery County, Tennessee.

Asa's family went by the name "Waters".

Someone recently referred me to your website and I thank you for it. It has helped clarify a number of things for me.
I am descended from Asa Waters, the presumed son of Archer and Edy Walters/Waters.
Asa married first Tabitha Grant, daughter or Charles and Mary R. Bradshaw Grant of Halifax co. VA.She was the mother of all his children. She died in Montgomery co. TN after the 1850 census, but before the 1860. Asa then married Lucy Jane Buckley of Montgomery county. He died in 1869 and Lucy lived another thirty years.
I descend from Asa and Tabitha's son Edwin Cincinnatus Waters, a confederate soldier and longtime member of the Montgomery County court (1895 until his death in 1907).

Article on Asa Walters/Waters with dates of b. 1795, d. 1868. Said to have been born Pittsylvania Co, VA, moved to Montgomery Co, TN settling in the Port Royal neighborhood. Prior to 1850, he sold that farm and moved to the Liberty Community.
His will dated 4 Feb 1868, was presented for probate in September of the same year.
The parents of Asa's first wife Tabitha Grant, said to be Charles Grant and Mary R. Bradshaw.. Asa and both wives said probably buried in the old Waters Cemetery.
The list of children from this article included a William T. Walters, not listed above, born between Asa and Joseph. William was also in the 1850 census with the family.

Asa WALTERS/WATERS and Tabitha GRANT were married about 1821. Tabitha GRANT was born in 1800. She died between 1854 and 1860 at the age of 54 in Montgomery County, Tennessee.

She was possibly the daughter of James & Nancy Ford who lived in Montgomery Co. 1860 Census. Montgomery Co. TN, North & East of the Cumberland River Chas. Waters, age 37, b. TN, as was the whole family. Nancy, age 35. Henry 10, James 9, Tabitha 6, Asa 5, Charles, age 2.
260	ii.	Abner WALTERS/WATERS⁴⁶ was born in 1824. He died before 1865 at the age of 41. Abner married Sarah Ann Yarbrough, 29 Jan 1853, Montgomery Co, TN 1860 Census. 262	iv.	Asa J. WALTERS/WATERS was born in 1832. He died in 1859 at the age of 27. Asa married Henrietta Parrish, 29 Dec 1859, Montgomery Co, TN.
263	v.	William T. WALTERS/WATERS was born in 1833. This may or may not be William - researchers of this family have nothing about him after the 1850 census. There were other Waters families located in Marshall Co and he may belong to them instead. I found a Wm. T. Waters living in Marshall Co TN in 1860. P.O. Lewisburg. Hh 236 Wm T. Waters, age 28, farmer, b. Virginia Minerva, age 33, b. TN John T. age 8, Martha age 6 and Robert age 1.
264	vi.	Joseph H. WALTERS/WATERS was born in 1836. Joseph may have had an early first married to C. J. Dodd. He married Emily J. Epperson, 28 Dec 1864, Montgomery Co, TN.
265	vii.	Edwin Cincinnatus WALTERS/WATERS⁴⁶ was born in 1838. He died in 1907 at the age of 69. Edwin married Sarah Ann "Sally" Meacham. 1860 Census. She said then that she had 10 children - 9 living. They had been married 38 years.

Asa WALTERS/WATERS and Lucy Jane BUCKLEY were married before 1860. Lucy Jane BUCKLEY was born in 1817. She died in 1900 at the age of 83.
