Joseph Coup is a son of Dr. John Coup, who removed from Ashland County to Wood County, in 1865, and who is the father of eight children- Mary E., William, Joseph, Sarah, John, Louisa, Frederick and Eliza. Joseph was born in Ashland County, in 1836 - married a daughter of Benjamin and Levina Nocker [sic], who was born in Richland County, in 1845. They have four children - Levi, Charles, Cora and Esther.
