Searchable online index of Births to 1918, Deaths and Marriages to 1945.

AUSTRALIAN PERIODICAL PUBLICATIONS
 

Has a number of online newspapers from early 1800s, including the Maitland Mercury. You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to view these scanned images.

MARBRACT TRANSCRIPTION SERVICES
 

An excellent transcription service especially for those living overseas. See the page for costs and details on how to order.

LAND & PROPERTY INFORMATION NSW
 

A great site that has early parish maps for much of NSW. Searchable site.

SOCIETY OF AUSTRALIAN GENEALOGISTS
 

Has searchable databases.
FORBES COMPUTER GROUP
 

This site has a lot of help and do-it-yourself, plus links to other good sites.

FAMILY SEARCH
 

The LDS website for the online IGI. A great tool to help locate ancestors BUT do not accept entries as proof. Also has the 1861 English Census online.

NATIONAL ARCHIVES OF AUSTRALIA
 

Good searchable site.

KENT GENEALOGY

This site is an excellent resource for genealogy in the County of Kent, England.

It includes several indexes containing over 26,000 names and over 350 links to other useful sites.

MARGARET TAYLORS PAGES

Margaret is one of the contributors to my web site. This is her own site where she also has information on various other families from the Mulbring and Maitland area in Australia. Many of these families married into my Wellard line.

KENT TITHE MAPS

The Tithe Commutation surveys carried out from the 1830s to 1840s, provide a great deal of information about land ownership, tenancy and land use at the time. Over 400 Kent Tithe Maps have now been digitised by the Centre for Kentish Studies (C.K.S.) with funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund.

GLOSSARY

AVR
Short for Australian Vital Records. Taken from early Parish Registers. Can be purchased or viewed on CD at Family History Centres
BDM'S
Short for Births, Deaths and Marriages.


BVR
Short for British Vital Records. Same as the AVR but covering England, Ireland and Wales

IGI
Short for International Genealogical Index.

LDS
Short for Latter Day Saints.
