Isaac Keepers (Group 8) was killed in a
hunting accident in 1804
The
items copied below are from the Historical & Genealogical Society of
Somerset County, PA. I have attempted to retain exact spellings, etc., and for
general interest, I have included some scanned copies. [JKK – Oct. 4, 2004]
Administrative Bond in the estate of
Isaac Keepers, Decd.
filed 31st December 1804
Know
all Men by these presents that we, Helena Keepers, Edward V. James, & John
Keepers, all of the County of Cambria attached to the Jurisdiction of Somerset
County in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania are held and firmly bound unto the
said Commonwealth in the sum of Two Thousand Dollars, lawful money of the
United States, to be paid to the said Commonwealth, to which payment to be well
and truly made, we do bind ourselves & each of our heirs, executors &
administrators & every of them jointly and severally for and in the
whole. Sealed with our seals, Dated
this thirty-first day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred
& four.
The
Condition of the above obligation is such that of the above bounden Helena
Keepers, administratrix of all and singular the goods & chattles, rights
& credits which were of Isaac Keepers late of the County of Cambria,
aforesaid deceased, do make or cause to be made, a true and perfect inventory
of all and singular the goods, chattles, and credits of the said deceased which
have or shall come to the hands, possession, or knowledge of her, the said
Helena or into the hands and possession of any other person, or persons, for
her and the same do make, do exhibit, or cause to be exhibited into the
Registers Office in the County of Somerset aforesaid, on or before the
thirty-first day of January next insuring; and the same goods & chattles
and credits and all other the goods, chattles and credits of the said deceased
at the time of his death which at any time after shall come to the hands and
possession of the said Helena or into the hands and possession of any other
person, or persons, for her as well and truly administer according to Law, and
further do make or cause to be made a true and just account of her said
administration at or before the 31st day of December in the year of
our Lord one thousand eight hundred & five and all the rest and residue of
the said goods, chattles and credits which shall be found remaining upon the
said administratrix’s amounts, the same being first examined & allowed of
by the Orphans Court of the County of Somerset aforesaid, shall deliver and pay
unto such person, or persons, respectively as the said Orphans Court by their
access (?) or sentence pursuant to the true intent and meaning of the Act of
Assembly in such case made & provided, shall limit and appoint and, if it
shall hereafter appear that any last will and testament was made by the said
deceased and the executor or executors therein named do exhibit the same into
the said Registers Office making request to have it allowed and approved
accordingly, if the said Helena within bounden being thereunto acquired do
render and deliver the said letters of administration, approbation of such
testament being first had and made in the said Registers Office, then this
obligation to be void and of none effect, or else to remain in full force of
virtue.

Inventory of the Goods and Chattles Rights & Credits of Isaac Keepers late
of Alegany (sic) Township Deceased
[The
last above basically reads as follows:]
We
the subscribers do certify that the foregoing is a true Inventory of the goods
& chattles of Isaac Keepers Deceased so far as came to our sight or
knowledge.
Given
under our hands this 2 Day of January, 1805.
