Tombstones from the Mount Hope Lutheran Cemetery, Glidden Wisconsin

August Köhring (1820 - 1916)  There is no date of death marked on this tombstone, even though the obituary for August states that he was buried in the "Lutheran Cemetery" after his death on February 22, 1916. Note the prominent German spelling of the surname at the very bottom.

Rosina J. M. Köhring (1816 - 1892)   This is located on the opposite side of August's tombstone and is written in German.

F. A. Schaefer (Ferdinand A. 1843 - 1887)  This is a military marker which sits about 4 feet in front of the tombstone of Ferdinand's son, Henry Schaefer, which can be seen at the top right-hand side of this photo. After clearing a ton of brush away from behind the Henry tombstone, I discovered the actual inscription for Ferdinand on the other side... There was too much brush to take a picture from that angle. However, the tombstone for F. A. Schaefer states date of birth as Dec. 3, 1843 and date of death as Aug. 6, 1887.

Henry Schaefer (1882 - 1893)   The inscription for father F. A. Schaefer appears on the back of this tombstone (see explanation above).
