"Mrs. Ira BRIGGS entertained her S. S. class Saturday at her home. Fred LEONARD and wife returned home Saturday from Toledo and Ogden Center and were accompanied by their daughter, Mrs. John PENCE of the latter place to
remain for a short stay. Mrs. John TERRY has been on the sick list for the
past week. Mrs. George BEATTY of Lyons has been assisting her a few days.
Mr GRIFFIN of Fayette has been very successful writing insurance in this
vicinity. Several young men have taken policies, the best investment they
ever made. C.H. STUTESMAN and family will spend Thanksgiving in Detroit
with their daughter, Mrs. FISK. Relatives in this vicinity have received
invitations to the marriage of Miss Fern DISBROW of Wauseon to Mr. KING of
Jasper, Mich, Nov. 29th. Mrs. Geo. BATES and mother Mrs. BRIGGS and Olive
ROOS spent last Wednesday with Mrs. Anna PATTERSON in Wauseon. No school after Wednesday on account of Thanksgiving. Several will spend the day at
family gatherings. A number from this place attended the funeral of Mr.
Otto PHILLIPAR at Inlet Sunday forenoon and in the afternoon attended the
funeral of Mrs. Will BARNES at Lyons. Robert FINN and A. F. PATTERSON and
families will each entertain a Thanksgiving dinner in ___________.
Rose M., eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James RICHARDSON was born in Lyons, O., Sept 21, 1872 and departed this life Nov.23, at Bixby Hospital, Adrian,
aged 44 years, 2 mo,, and 2 days. She was united in marriage to William H.
BARNS, Jan. 30, 1901. To this union were born eight children, Denver, Leo,
Lulu, Harold, Willa, Nova, Lloyd and baby Mabel 5 months old. Besides the
immediate family, she leaves her mother, seven sisters and four brothers.
Her father preceded her in death 3 years ago. In 1896 she united with the church and was a faithful member and worker the remainder of her life. She
has been a member of the Rebekkah Lodge since her 18th birthday. She had many
friends who will greatly miss her, but most of all she will be missed in the

H.D. Pegg, of Morenci, has purchased the store and stock formerly owned by Mr. Stevens and Mr. Warner, and last Monday began business. Mr. Pegg has employed Louis Hinkle to manage the store for him. Mr Hinkle was formerly in the employ of Mr. Pegg at Lyons, having been with him there for 18 months. For the past two and one-half years, he has been employed by R.A.Smith in his drug store and grocery store. Mr Pegg expects to conduct a general store, and is retaining the former clerk, Miss Champion. Mr Hinkle is a steady, energetic young man, who thoroughly understands how to conduct a general store. Mr Pegg could not well have made a better selection than to employ Mr Hinkle as manager, and Miss Champion as saleslady. The former with his gentlemanly ways, and the latter with her ladylike manner, assures the patrons prompt, courteous and fair treatment. Transcribed by Lou Jacobs |
