(Note1: Will add more as the information is found.)
(Note2: Be wary of Morton, Martin, and Mastin when researching these records. They can be hard to decipher at times. So some of the following names may not be Martins and I may have missed some Martins because the Tax Collector spelled their names incorrectly.)
SOME EARLY KNOWN MARRIAGES:
Martin, Sarah “Sally” Ramey, John, Jr. 25 Dec 1805 in Clark Co, KY
[Note: According to one researcher, a Sarah “Sally” Martin (born abt 1785, Clark Co, KY) – John Ramey, Jr. ( born abt 1779, Augusta Co, VA – died 27 Oct 1827, Lyon Co, KY). One of their children was named Benjamin Martin Ramey.]
Martin, Martha Cave, William 10 Jan 1822
(Note: Per court records, Martha, or Patsy Martin was daughter of widow Polly Martin. After William Cave, Jr. died, his widow, Martha Martin, moved to Kansas, via Putnam Co, IN. Left Montgomery County probably in the early 1830s. Also, John and Polly Martin had quite a few daughters. I suspect most, if not all, of the next 3 women are their daughters.)

Martin, Virginia Davis, Zedekiah 28 Sep 1824
Martin, Nancy Bradshaw, William 18 Oct 1831
Martin, Salley Thompson, Hugh 11 Jul 1833

Note: I suspect this William Martin is the Rev William Martin, a Methodist preacher who moved from Bath Co, KY to Putnam Co, IN. The book, Weik’s History of Putnam County, Indiana, talks about Henry Bascom Martin, son of Robert and Lucy Routte Martin and grandson of Rev William Martin. Robert and wife moved to Putnam in 1825 (does not mention any more about when and where William moved. It did say that Robert was from Virginia and his family moved to Bath when he was a boy. He settled two miles south of Cloverdale, in Putnam County, Indiana. William Martin’s father was a John Martin who served in the Rev War for most of the war; however, sent his son, John (William’s brother) to serve in his place toward the later part of the War. The book states that William was born during the War.
Another book, Historical and Biographical Record of Douglas County, Illinois also mentions William Martin. This William was a Methodist minister who moved from VA to KY to Putnam Co, IN where he died. He married a Mary Cook. One of their sons was a William H. Martin, born in Bath Co, KY. At 21, he moved to Putnam; in 1827 he married an Elizabeth Walton Dills.
An on-line family tree shows William Martin, born 11 Mar 1772, Albemarle, VA and died 10 Apr 1847, Cynthiana, Harrison Co, KY. (It appears they had relatives in Harrison County; however, another on-line tree shows he died in Putnam Co, IN.) His wife, Mary Ann Cook Martin, was born 26 Dec 1771 in VA and died 14 Feb 1851 in Putnam Co, IN. This on-line tree shows his father as David Martin and not John Martin.
