Edward Gostick b.ca.1844 Clerkenwall, England (married a Sarah Wilkinson) and they settled in Canada.  There is a great possibility that these two families are connected in some way.

Note: That Joseph Gostick was age 50 and Jane age 55 in the 1841 census returns.  By 1851, (10 years later) Joseph is 64, and Jane is only 52.  We do have some mistakes in these records.{kgk}

This Joseph Gostick b. ca. 1787 Bedford, Eng, seems to fit the Joseph Gostick who married in 1809 Shoreditch, London Co.Eng. "Jane Johnson".  If so, they may have had many more children than those listed.

Page 138 of H.P.R. Finberg's Gostwick book, he states that between 1836 and 1883 Joseph Gostick, who by the latter date had changed his name to GOSTWICK, published a number of  books, chiefly on German literature.
